Sun Valley High celebrated Black History Month by having fourth period classes participate in a door decorating contest. The purpose of the contest was to celebrate the achievements of African American leaders. The doors were judged based on historical accuracy, creativity, originality, and craftsmanship. First place went to Mrs. Greenlees’ class who celebrated the Greensboro Four and desegregation. Second place was awarded to Mr. Cochran’s class who celebrated George Washington Carver and his accomplishments as an inventor. Administration is treating the two winning classes to a pizza party.
